The opportunity

At Bloomful, we believe access to high-quality women's healthcare should be friction-free and personalised to all who need it. That's why we're building a new, digitally enabled patient journey for better gynaecological health.

We are recruiting a machine learning lead to take our current platform to the next stage and deliver robust data-driven insights to support the diagnosis and management of common gynaecological conditions.

About Bloomful

Patient journeys in women’s health are chaotic, ambiguous and outdated. Common gynaecological conditions can take 10+ years to diagnose, impacting people's quality of life, ability to work and mental well-being. Meanwhile, biotech and pharma companies struggle to get the data they need to develop better treatments.

Bloomful is developing an AI-powered platform for diagnosing and managing common gynaecological conditions like PCOS and endometriosis whilst building an actionable gynaecological data infrastructure to advance research in the field.

We are backed by Google for Startups and are female-founded.

This is the role for you if...

This role is ideal for an experienced machine learning engineer seeking the opportunity to shape our ML capabilities from the ground up, taking responsibility for early technical decisions and delivering in a green-field environment with autonomy and trust.

We are looking for a motivated candidate with the confidence and experience to work in partnership with the rest of our team to drive early delivery.

What you'll be doing

As the first ML engineer at Bloomful, you'll play a fundamental role in shaping our ML capabilities:

  • Research published academic literature and industry solutions to shape our ML approach.

  • Work with our product and clinical leads to shape our data acquisition strategy.

  • Drive the design, specification, development, and production deployment of our ML solutions into our current product.

  • Design, build, and maintain tools for managing the lifecycle of our ML system.

  • Create comprehensive documentation for developed algorithms and models.

  • Collaborate with regulatory affairs professionals to prepare and submit the necessary documentation for regulatory approvals.

  • Exercise great judgement on laying our technical foundations - this will impact us and future team members in the long term!

  • Stay on top of the latest advancements in machine learning and contribute to the exploration and integration of innovative techniques.

Who you are

  • We don’t have any degree requirements; we’re looking for a hands-on machine learning engineer.

  • You ideally have 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing ML algorithms for user-facing product solutions.

  • You have experience working on ambitious, green-field projects, and building solutions from the ground up in a startup environment.

  • You are excited at the opportunity to help us grow and shape our engineering culture and team.

  • You are comfortable working remotely in an asynchronous team.

  • You have excellent communication skills and can convey complex technical concepts to non-technical people.

  • Ideally, you have some experience in developing ML products in a highly regulated environment (e.g., finance, healthcare).

  • Bonus if you can bring some expertise in large language models, natural language processing, and/or chatbot development.

Company benefits

  • Compensation range pro rata of £65-80k p.a.

  • Share options.

  • Remote-first working with typically one day a week of in-person co-working within London if you are local.

  • Flexible working hours.

  • 25 days holiday (pro rata) in addition to bank holidays.

  • Exciting opportunity to be part of the growing UK Femtech scene and be at the forefront of innovation in women’s health.

  • More perks to be added as we grow…you’ll be involved in shaping our company culture!

  • Our team and values.

Our application process

Just so you know, we don't need a cover letter for your application.

Our standard interview process includes 3 steps and will be entirely remote:

  • 30-minute screening interview with Léa (Head of Operations) to introduce you to Bloomful, the role and find out a bit more about you and your experience.

  • 1 hour with our technical advisor, which involves a technical interview. You should leave this call understanding exactly where we are, where we’re going and what will be expected from you.

  • 45 min with Dupe (Founder and CEO), who will answer any further questions you may have about us, our future and the role.
